Sorry about not posting my weekly wrap-up for the past two weeks. I do like the idea of posting this information, but I always tend to forget to do so on Sundays. Without further ado, I present my weekly wrap-ups from January 14 – 20, and January 21 – 27. I have a tendency to read books based on their cover, and their titles, do any of these books capture your attention just by looking at the covers, or am I alone on this?

So dangerous or not, the job is mine. And it was going fine, until an old as sin vampire stole my mark, and with it, my pay day.
Knowing I’m poor and desperate, he has offered me a job. I’ll have to work by his side to help solve a top secret case.
Everyone knows not to trust vampires. Especially a hot elder vampire. But without any other jobs coming up, I’m stuck. As I uncover a web of lies and treachery, revealing an enemy I didn’t know existed, the truth of my identity is threatened. I might make it out alive, only to end up in a gilded cage.
Reagan, a badass heroine who is working hard to take down her next target, so that she can stay afloat. With her line of work, when someone has a job for you, as a fellow bounty hunter, you can’t afford to say no. During this task, Reagan is forced to work side by side with a vampire, Darius, and old, cocky, and extremely attractive vampire, one who can’t be trusted. Reagan’s wit and dry sense of humor kept me glued to the book, her personality is the way my mind functions and I loved every minute of it.
Darius on the other hand, I was irritated by at the beginning that is. I’ve noticed that almost all of the vampires when working with non-vampires tend to look down on everyone, and that’s exactly what Darius portrayed from the jump. As the two spend more and more time together, we begin to see some form a friendship evolving between the two, and thus my heart began rooting for the duo to follow their feelings.
I loved this book, and couldn’t wait to start the next book in the series. Stay tuned for the review, Raised in Fire by K.F. Breene coming soon. Until next time be sure to Read THS!

It’s not a life she’s happy with, but it’s one she’s come to accept. Everything changes the day her father is slaughtered by a vampire and she escapes the walls that have kept her caged.
After she’s attacked by the monster responsible for killing her father, Kadence is unsure how to react when she’s rescued by Ronan. Now I am all for chivalry not being dead, but not everyone is meant to be the perfect housewife and ask little questions. Kadence was a forward thinker and was always searching for something to fill the void within her, and so she snuck out and thus the story really begins.
Ronan, a vampire, a sultry sex vampire I might add is out with his team of fellow vampires out on the hunt as well. Because Ronan lives forever he has watched many people that he has come to care for pass as he continues on with his life. But things suddenly begin to change when Kadence enters the club doors and catches his eyes.
Little do the vampire hunters, and vampires know, but they are both working towards the same goals, to take out as many rogue vampires as possible. When all hell breaks loose outside of the club, the vampires and the vampire hunters find themselves working alongside one another to fight off the some of the rogue vampires that have stumbled into their space. From that moment on Ronan and Kadence will find that their actions will have effects on their families, and the positions they will be forced into will have them questioning themselves.
I loved this book! I felt so many emotions from heartwarming flutters to irritation and frustration. I loved the story as it developed, the characters developing into those that I loved and hated as well as wanted to kill myself, I enjoyed everything and can’t wait to bring you guys the review for the next book in the series.

An elf prince on the verge of losing himself to the darkness, Vail is maddened by the forty-two centuries he was under the control of a witch and forced to war with his brother. Now, he roams Hell seeking an escape from his terrible past and the heads of all who bear magic. When demons of the Fifth Realm capture him, he sees a chance to end his existence, but when he wakes in a cell to a beautiful female, he finds not death but his only shot at salvation—his true fated mate.
Captured by the enemy of the Third Realm when the war ended, Rosalind has spent months in the cells of the Fifth Realm with her magic bound, forced to heal the new king’s demon warriors, and haunted by the lives she has taken. When she’s brought to heal an unconscious man, she discovers her only hope of escape has come in the form of her worst nightmare and the first part of a prediction that might spell her doom—a devastatingly handsome and dangerous dark elf prince.
Unwilling to fall under the control of anyone ever again, Vail must escape before the Fifth King can use him as a pawn in a deadly game of revenge, but he cannot leave without Rosalind, the woman who looks at him with dark desire in her stunning eyes and awakens a fierce hunger in his heart. A witch who drives him mad with need even as the darkness within whispers she will enslave him too.
Can Rosalind escape her fate as they embark on a journey fraught with danger and resist the temptation of her rogue elf prince? And can Vail overcome the memories that madden him in order to seize his chance for salvation and the heart of his fated female forever?
This Rogue Prince is related to the main character in Kissed by a Dark Prince. Both Loren and Vail are brothers, elf brothers that are royalty of their Elf kingdom. After the death of their parents and the great war that brought destruction to their land, the brothers set out to protect their people. During this time Vail met what he thought was the answer to a long foretold prophecy of a witch, who was told to be his salvation but turned out to be his worse nightmare.
Vail is then taken under the witches control, where she forces him to fight his only living sibling, Loren for centuries. Although the brothers grew up together and learned together, their fighting styles were always different. Vail, was still a stronger fighter than Loren and could have easily bested him when the witch would pin the brothers against one another, and yet Vail was always able to leave and break free before doing so.
This brings us up-to-date on Vail’s story. Captured after the war, the Fifth King has both Vail and Rosalind in holding cells where she is forced to help the one creatures that she has been told will be her downfall. While Rosalind is tending to Vail, she begins to peer into who he is and sees that he isn’t as terrifying as he appears to be but scarred.
During their journey, they each allow the other to see something they didn’t show to anyone else, and feelings begin to bloom. I think I liked the book mainly because it wasn’t an instant attraction, both Vail and Rosalind had their withdrawals towards one another, but as they got to know each other and the time they spent around one another, they began their quest to their true fated ones.

They came to earth-Pestilence, War, Famine, Death-four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.
When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.
Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.
Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him.
And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she’ll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.
Pestilence, a fatal epidemic disease, especially bubonic plague. -Google
We first start off the book with Sara and her fellow volunteers that have set out to help save their little town. In doing so, Sara is chosen to stay behind and face Pestilence trying her best to end him and his deadly path from making it any further across the world. Sara’s first attempts all failed, and she is taken captive and forced to watch the world die around her as Pestilence continues to run around the globe.
Pestilence, the definition provided is exactly what this character embodies. He has his mission, the only he knows is to bring on death as he rides across oceans. We are able to hear about his life and some information about his brothers, the other horsemen that have yet to come.
I have to say that I loved Pestilence’s characters. Pestilence is not human, so when we get to look at him and see that he does have human-like emotions, it pulls at your heartstrings. I know that some people might see Pestilence’s actions as abuse and that is true. The way that he handles Sara is abusive, and that’s not okay. But, yes I know there’s a but, when you have a being that knows not of human life and was only built and or designed to bring on death to all, what do you expect from the character. The reason why I loved the book so much is that you get to see Pestilence become more human as the story continues. Sara may have a bit of Stockholm Syndrome, she does fall for her capture, but she is also the one who is slowly changing his mindset and actions into human-like characteristics. The atmosphere of this world is very dark, but how many rainbows and unicorns could you expect when reading a book named Pestilence without there being death surrounding him?
What are your thoughts of Pestilence? Would you pick it up and give it a try, or is the thought of constant death, and actions abuse something you can’t overlook? I would really like to know your thoughts on these types of books, is there no way one can redeem themselves, let me know in the comments. Until next time, be sure to Read THS!
Hi there readers,

Felicity Valdez just wants a simple life. She’s turned her back on her family legacy and escaped to a tiny Pennsylvania town. She’s even changed her name to cut all ties between herself and the powerful Valdez family, who rules the magical world. All she wants is to run her shop, a place where she can brew up potions and a damn fine cup of coffee. And maybe flirt with the gorgeous guy who keeps coming in to see her. But there’s more to Damien than meets the eye, and Felicity is soon caught up in intrigue that could shatter her simple life forever.
Damien Dragomir has been on the run for decades. As the last dragon ruler of the magical world, he has sheltered his brothers from the Valdez family, usurpers who murdered his parents and would do the same to him if they could find him. Damien’s drive in life has been the safety of his family, but that was before he met Felicity. He can’t stop thinking about the beautiful witch who makes the killer coffee. Is the fire he feels for Felicity enough to trump his hatred of the Valdez name?
Love is supposed to conquer all, but can it overcome their history?
Short story, kind straight to the point. I enjoyed the book while I was reading it, I did feel the instant attraction between Felicity and Damien. Damien appeared to be all dark and brooding while Felicity is trying to live her life the best she knows how and on her own. Although I did like the two main characters, there wasn’t much depth to them, the characters seemed a lacking not just in their personal lives that they were attempting to live, but also in their pasts. Both of their families are apart of the fantasy world, but we only get glimpses into those worlds, enough information to make sure the reader understood what was going on and why.
Another reason for the 3.5 rating was the sex scenes. With the book only being 188 pages or so long, I felt like there was a lot of sexual scenes and thoughts that were kind of thrown in. I am not one to turn down a hot book, but for me, it almost seemed a little forced.
There are four books in this series, I’m glad this book didn’t end in a cliffhanger. I am not sure I would’ve been eager to pick up the next in the series. I might try to read the next book sometime in the future, maybe I’ll have a different outlook on the overall story.

This book was a refreshing take on dragons. I loved reading the struggle between the two characters as they tried to survive one another. The old-time feel when the author thrusts us into a different time period, kept everything so fresh with every detail. C.I. Well, Happy New Year readers, here is my first ever wrap-up, bringing you my reading life thanks to Goodreads, enjoy!
After reviewing all of my reviews I wrote this year based on the books I read this year, it appears that I didn’t do as well as I’d thought. Looks like I still need to write 67 book reviews on the books I completed last year alone. Which means only 6 of my reviews pertained to the year 2018, and some of those reviews were from reading arcs. Counting everything out and realizing that my review goals were way up there and I was nowhere close to obtaining them sucks, but hey we all have to start somewhere.
Until next time readers, remember to keep reading, and attempting to be the best you can be.
Prompt: You receive a package that you don’t recall ordering.
I open my front door and find a package sitting on my doorstep right where I was about to walk. Confused I reach down and pick up the bag and set it on the kitchen counter. I didn’t remember ordering anything from Amazon, I’d put myself on a strict no purchasing ban for the next couple of weeks, I was starting to redecorate my house, and I got click happy whenever I logged into my account.
I pull out a pair of scissors from my junk drawer and cut into the flimsy package, it didn’t feel too heavy, but it wasn’t like the big boxes I had been receiving lately. Sticking my hand in the slit I’d just cut, I pull out a bulky box and a sheet of paper. The paper had RULES written on the top, with bullet points below, just glancing at the sheet there had to be about 15 different points. I grabbed the box and pulled out a watch that had a timer on the face of it.
“What is going on?” I ask the empty room, I pick up these “rules,” and begin to read.
Thanks for checking on day 26 of my writing challenge, we are nearing the end, and I must say I am happy with the dedication I’ve put into setting everything up. Until next time, Read THS!
Prompt: You are at the end of your book, the last chapter is done, and you can finally breathe easy.
Blurb: I type out my final two words of my very first novel, The End, and I can’t help but to smile and get a little emotional. I’d finally done it. I finally made my dreams come true and wrote a book, one that I’d been working on for the longest time ever but I’m now done. It is surreal, and I push back from my desk and head towards the kitchen this moment requires a toast, although I’m by myself a little celebration wouldn’t hurt.
I reach the kitchen and pull my favorite red wine out of the fridge, I take out my favorite wine glass that just so happens to hold an entire bottle at a time. I pour my glass and inhale the sweet aroma of the wine as it fills the air around me, and take a large gulp. Walking back into my living room I sit on the couch and pull my feet underneath me sighing and resting my head on the back of the sofa. Out of nowhere, there’s a blaring noise, I look around trying to find the source but come up empty as I glance around. Getting up from my spot, I walked around my apartment from room to room to see that freaking beeping noise.
Slowly I start to feel all hazy and like I was having an out of body experience. Slowly Everything went black, and I opened my eyes. Confused I sat up and rub the back of my neck where it was sore and stiff as well as my legs, that was tingling from being asleep. As I sit up in my chair, I look at my laptop and see the cursor blinking after the last thing I’d typed, and it wasn’t The End.
Isn’t that frightening, can you imagine finishing your story, or blog post and waking up to find that it was nothing but a dream. The happiness and peace that you felt when you typed out those final words were just a figment of your imagination? I wouldn’t wish such a thing on my worst enemy. Well, thanks for stopping by be sure to leave your thoughts, and your take on finishing up a very important project of yours. Until next time, be sure to Read THS!
Prompt: You are woken up with the sound of scraping against a stone wall.
Where…where am I? I open my eyes wide as I turn my head back and forth trying to mack out objects in the dark. My wrists are held together by some material, and my arms are in pain but feel lifeless at the same time. I try to pull my arms forward since they are held above my head, but there’s no such luck. Taking deep breaths, I try not to panic although this would be an ideal moment to freak out.
The last thing I remembered was locking up the store and heading home. The street seemed quiet as usual, no passing cars, no loud people walking about, I mean the mom and pop coffee house/bookstore was nestled in the middle of a quiet neighborhood instead of some busy downtown road, but the quiet suited the place. I remember walking across the street to my car, and that was it, it’s like my mind went completely blank. I don’t know if I ever made it home, I don’t know if I was home, and I have no clue what time it is or the day. All I know is that my arms are tied up above my head, my feet aren’t too far from the ground because my big toe is grazing the surface, which feels like dirt and rocks, and that I am cold, terribly cold.
Before my mind could asses anything else around me, and my situation, I hear a scraping noise, not loud but almost like scuffling, it sounded similar to the noise that had made me open my eyes.
“Hello, is there anyone in here with me?” Silence greeted me, no one spoke but the scraping sound came again, it sounded like metal on rocks or stones. I stretched my fingers out to try and feel the surface behind me, there was a wall a stonewall, that was a clue…something was scraping against the wall.
“I can hear you scraping against the wall, can you please answer me, where are we, why are we here, and who brought us here?”
“Hush, stop talking you’re going to make those things come back.”
“Can you just answer one of my questions?” I beg, I only want to know where we were and if whoever responded knew anything.
” I don’t know where we are, but they brought you in I’m guessing a couple of days ago. I don’t know what the things are, but they don’t sound like regular people, they talk in some sort of weird language, and they force come by and give us water. That’s all I know, please don’t say anything else, I don’t want them coming back any time soon.”
Thanks for stopping by, until next time be sure to Read THS!
Prompt: Your sibling has been practicing music for hours on end, suddenly there’s a loud crash and then complete silence.
“Mike, Mike, what are you doing in there?” Silence follows my question, not a groan, shuffling of feet, or a mumble telling me to leave my little brother alone, and that he’s fine. I open the door to find his soprano saxophone on the ground next to his music stand, but I do not see him. I push the door all the way open and walk in to glance around the corner and see his window is open. Odd because he never opens his window, I mean we never have a need to so, I know he never opens it let alone leave it open. Walking over to the window I lean over the edge trying to see the ground, “Mike?” From the street, I hear tires screech I turn and run down the stairs and out the front, “Mike!”
Thanks for stopping by for day 21 of my Writing Challenge, be sure to Read THS!
Prompt: You’re driving home from work after a long day, instead of pulling up outside of your house, you wind up in front of an abandoned building.
Listening to my relaxation playlist as I head home from work has my mind at ease, and has my body relaxing. As I listen to H.E.R. soothing melody I find myself getting off the freeway an exit before my normal route, and I find myself meandering through the back roads. As I let the music take over my thoughts and wash out the remaining issues from work, I allow the music to fully take control of my feelings and mood. Before I notice what turns I have made and how far off course I’d gotten, my car stops outside a red-bricked building with boarded up windows. How I had gotten here I had no clue, but the area seemed vaguely familiar, I’m not sure if everyone experienced deja vu like I did, but there was always an eerie feeling when an image was somehow coming back to me like I’d been in that same location and situation before.
How did I wind up here, and why do I feel so calm in this area, I see no car lights anywhere and every other street light is out. I don’t think the city comes around to collect the trash either as all of it is thrown all over the ground forming man-made tumbleweeds. Why am I here?
Have you guys ever done this? Maybe you haven’t ended up in front of an abandoned building but maybe you took a wrong turn, missed your exit or just let your car drive you to an unknown desired destination? I know I have had days like this, I was running on fumes and somehow would miss my exit or end up at the grocery store not really knowing why I’d stopped in the first place.
Well, readers, I hope you enjoyed today’s writing challenge be sure to check back tomorrow.
