Spring break at college is supposed to be a time of fun and parties, but Alaska Rossi, a.k.a. Janey Smith, is on lockdown thanks to her father’s mafia dealings. She wants only to party down with the rest of her classmates. At least her hot, darkly mysterious bodyguard – deep undercover as her dorm’s resident assistant – gives her something to fantasize about during her boring nights in confinement.
When Alaska wins a campus radio contest, and is gifted with a special invitation to an exclusive island, she knows it’s her chance to break free. After all, Eden is a place where no one knows her name, so what danger could possibly come to her? But when danger appears in the form of a masked man who takes control of all her pleasures, tapping into her darkest fantasies, she begins to wonder if her undercover lover, and the mysterious bodyguard who’s deep undercover, are one and the same….
A hot little number between two people that just needed a break. Alaska, the daughter of a mafia crime boss, is away at school where she is trying to live a normal life like any other college student. While away at school Alaska attempts to pursue the hot RA that’s supposed to have a leadership role at the school, but she soon finds out that he knows exactly who she is, which means she is being watched while she’s away.
To escape yet another one of her fathers controlling ploys, Alaska enters into a campus contest and wins a trip to an exclusive island and wins. Just in the nick of time, Alaska is whisked off to an amazing island where she can finally let go and be free, which is exactly what she does.
While on the island, Alaska senses someone familiar around, noticing his face in crowds and such, until one night she takes the chance to and plunges into the wonders of the island, where she is able to escape with her fathers’ bodyguard.
This was a short read, hot and steamy from the beginning and a good page-turner. I would recommend this read for a time when you’re stuck on where to go next.

An elf prince on the verge of losing himself to the darkness, Vail is maddened by the forty-two centuries he was under the control of a witch and forced to war with his brother. Now, he roams Hell seeking an escape from his terrible past and the heads of all who bear magic. When demons of the Fifth Realm capture him, he sees a chance to end his existence, but when he wakes in a cell to a beautiful female, he finds not death but his only shot at salvation—his true fated mate.
Captured by the enemy of the Third Realm when the war ended, Rosalind has spent months in the cells of the Fifth Realm with her magic bound, forced to heal the new king’s demon warriors, and haunted by the lives she has taken. When she’s brought to heal an unconscious man, she discovers her only hope of escape has come in the form of her worst nightmare and the first part of a prediction that might spell her doom—a devastatingly handsome and dangerous dark elf prince.
Unwilling to fall under the control of anyone ever again, Vail must escape before the Fifth King can use him as a pawn in a deadly game of revenge, but he cannot leave without Rosalind, the woman who looks at him with dark desire in her stunning eyes and awakens a fierce hunger in his heart. A witch who drives him mad with need even as the darkness within whispers she will enslave him too.
Can Rosalind escape her fate as they embark on a journey fraught with danger and resist the temptation of her rogue elf prince? And can Vail overcome the memories that madden him in order to seize his chance for salvation and the heart of his fated female forever?
This Rogue Prince is related to the main character in Kissed by a Dark Prince. Both Loren and Vail are brothers, elf brothers that are royalty of their Elf kingdom. After the death of their parents and the great war that brought destruction to their land, the brothers set out to protect their people. During this time Vail met what he thought was the answer to a long foretold prophecy of a witch, who was told to be his salvation but turned out to be his worse nightmare.
Vail is then taken under the witches control, where she forces him to fight his only living sibling, Loren for centuries. Although the brothers grew up together and learned together, their fighting styles were always different. Vail, was still a stronger fighter than Loren and could have easily bested him when the witch would pin the brothers against one another, and yet Vail was always able to leave and break free before doing so.
This brings us up-to-date on Vail’s story. Captured after the war, the Fifth King has both Vail and Rosalind in holding cells where she is forced to help the one creatures that she has been told will be her downfall. While Rosalind is tending to Vail, she begins to peer into who he is and sees that he isn’t as terrifying as he appears to be but scarred.
During their journey, they each allow the other to see something they didn’t show to anyone else, and feelings begin to bloom. I think I liked the book mainly because it wasn’t an instant attraction, both Vail and Rosalind had their withdrawals towards one another, but as they got to know each other and the time they spent around one another, they began their quest to their true fated ones.

They came to earth-Pestilence, War, Famine, Death-four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.
When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.
Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.
Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him.
And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she’ll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.
Pestilence, a fatal epidemic disease, especially bubonic plague. -Google
We first start off the book with Sara and her fellow volunteers that have set out to help save their little town. In doing so, Sara is chosen to stay behind and face Pestilence trying her best to end him and his deadly path from making it any further across the world. Sara’s first attempts all failed, and she is taken captive and forced to watch the world die around her as Pestilence continues to run around the globe.
Pestilence, the definition provided is exactly what this character embodies. He has his mission, the only he knows is to bring on death as he rides across oceans. We are able to hear about his life and some information about his brothers, the other horsemen that have yet to come.
I have to say that I loved Pestilence’s characters. Pestilence is not human, so when we get to look at him and see that he does have human-like emotions, it pulls at your heartstrings. I know that some people might see Pestilence’s actions as abuse and that is true. The way that he handles Sara is abusive, and that’s not okay. But, yes I know there’s a but, when you have a being that knows not of human life and was only built and or designed to bring on death to all, what do you expect from the character. The reason why I loved the book so much is that you get to see Pestilence become more human as the story continues. Sara may have a bit of Stockholm Syndrome, she does fall for her capture, but she is also the one who is slowly changing his mindset and actions into human-like characteristics. The atmosphere of this world is very dark, but how many rainbows and unicorns could you expect when reading a book named Pestilence without there being death surrounding him?
What are your thoughts of Pestilence? Would you pick it up and give it a try, or is the thought of constant death, and actions abuse something you can’t overlook? I would really like to know your thoughts on these types of books, is there no way one can redeem themselves, let me know in the comments. Until next time, be sure to Read THS!

Felicity Valdez just wants a simple life. She’s turned her back on her family legacy and escaped to a tiny Pennsylvania town. She’s even changed her name to cut all ties between herself and the powerful Valdez family, who rules the magical world. All she wants is to run her shop, a place where she can brew up potions and a damn fine cup of coffee. And maybe flirt with the gorgeous guy who keeps coming in to see her. But there’s more to Damien than meets the eye, and Felicity is soon caught up in intrigue that could shatter her simple life forever.
Damien Dragomir has been on the run for decades. As the last dragon ruler of the magical world, he has sheltered his brothers from the Valdez family, usurpers who murdered his parents and would do the same to him if they could find him. Damien’s drive in life has been the safety of his family, but that was before he met Felicity. He can’t stop thinking about the beautiful witch who makes the killer coffee. Is the fire he feels for Felicity enough to trump his hatred of the Valdez name?
Love is supposed to conquer all, but can it overcome their history?
Short story, kind straight to the point. I enjoyed the book while I was reading it, I did feel the instant attraction between Felicity and Damien. Damien appeared to be all dark and brooding while Felicity is trying to live her life the best she knows how and on her own. Although I did like the two main characters, there wasn’t much depth to them, the characters seemed a lacking not just in their personal lives that they were attempting to live, but also in their pasts. Both of their families are apart of the fantasy world, but we only get glimpses into those worlds, enough information to make sure the reader understood what was going on and why.
Another reason for the 3.5 rating was the sex scenes. With the book only being 188 pages or so long, I felt like there was a lot of sexual scenes and thoughts that were kind of thrown in. I am not one to turn down a hot book, but for me, it almost seemed a little forced.
There are four books in this series, I’m glad this book didn’t end in a cliffhanger. I am not sure I would’ve been eager to pick up the next in the series. I might try to read the next book sometime in the future, maybe I’ll have a different outlook on the overall story.

This book was a refreshing take on dragons. I loved reading the struggle between the two characters as they tried to survive one another. The old-time feel when the author thrusts us into a different time period, kept everything so fresh with every detail. C.I. LuAnn’s had a crush on her older, rebellious stepbrother since the year he lived with them—his last year of high school. Now, four weeks before graduating from Sarah Wharton Women’s College, she’s been kicked out for having boys in her dormitory, and he’s the one who shows up to collect her. With her parents away in Europe, he brings her to his place, because leaving a young woman unchaperoned isn’t done in 1957.
Brad makes it clear she is not to emulate the wild behavior of his youth, and he starts things out with a long, bare-bottomed punishment. Soon, though, he discovers his stepsister is all grown up, and having her under his authority makes her a temptation too delicious to resist. Before long, he’s strayed way past what is acceptable, turning her into his little girl and bringing her to the peaks of pleasure during her numerous punishments. LuAnn brings out the dominant side of him, but with it comes the desire to take care of her and nurture the sweet innocence she’s been trying to cover up. He wants her for keeps, which means risking their parents’ disapproval and leaving his rebellious side behind forever.
Publisher’s Note: The book contains spanking, elements of ageplay and graphic sexual scenes. If such content offends you, please do not buy this book.
Let me first start with the fact that I love the period this story took place in was what drew me to start flipping pages. This is a first for me, reading something taking place in the ’50s that weren’t related to school research. I will admit I did like the classic hints that were present, the updos, the classic attire and the words used were spot on and added to the story.
Brad has to go to school and pick up his little stepsister that he hasn’t seen for years. When he first lays his eyes on her, he sees that she is not the same 13 year old when he’d last seen her. With these two in close proximate and no parents in sight, Brad takes it upon himself to discipline LuAnn the best he knows how. The creativeness of the writing and the hotness between LuAnn and Brad was what kept me genuinely interested and kept the pages turning. The heat that came from every page turn was extreme, and I will be reading more from this author.

WHORE, SLUT, AN EASY LAY… I’VE BEEN CALLED A LOT OF THINGS.
It turns me on most when a man says it while he’s taking me from behind.
People say there’s a reason I am the way I am.
And sure, some stuff happened to me.
Some messed up sh*t I’d never wish on anyone.
But I’ve been like this long before that night.
That’s not what this story’s about, though.
You think you know? You don’t know a thing.
Let’s start from the beginning, all about how I asked for it.
This book, oh my! I will say I wasn’t too fond of the title when I first read it, but it was obscure enough to intrigue me and push me to read the first couple of pages. The title alone can make you not want to move forward, but I encourage you to pick this one up, Willow Winters did a fantastic job with the storytelling.
I will try to explain my love for this start of the series without spoiling it for you guys. The darkness sets you up to feel so much more, there’s love, lust, anger, involving almost all of human emotion between these two characters. It is such a beautiful thing to see two people that have been genuinely hurt and wronged come together to build one another up to be greater than before. Isn’t that what we all want in life? For someone to care enough about us and know about all of our screw ups, but still, love us for us.
Hopefully, that wasn’t much of a spoiler for you, just now that the title is not always what it seems.
The new year brings new resolutions, so here I am taking a shot at reporting what books I’ve read throughout the week and what books I’m currently reading. What books were you able to get through, and what are you trying to finish this upcoming week?
As you see above, I am apparently starting off this year with a specific series, I came across book 1.5 first and read that when I noticed that I started reading them out of order. I had to backtrack and read book 1 which really tied things together for me, so here’s to book 2 and so on, hopefully, next weeks update will look similar.
Well, Happy New Year readers, here is my first ever wrap-up, bringing you my reading life thanks to Goodreads, enjoy!
After reviewing all of my reviews I wrote this year based on the books I read this year, it appears that I didn’t do as well as I’d thought. Looks like I still need to write 67 book reviews on the books I completed last year alone. Which means only 6 of my reviews pertained to the year 2018, and some of those reviews were from reading arcs. Counting everything out and realizing that my review goals were way up there and I was nowhere close to obtaining them sucks, but hey we all have to start somewhere.
Until next time readers, remember to keep reading, and attempting to be the best you can be.
Well, Happy New Year everyone! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful closing of 2018, and are excited as I am about getting 2019 off to a great start. For my personal goals this year I’ve set the bar high, but I always say I’m working on my life every day and trying to push for bigger and better things. So here’s to my bookish goals for 2019;
- Read 100 books
- Read 10 physical books
- Read 1 History Book
- Read 1 Business Book
- Read 1 book on Writing Novels
- Keep up with all the books, read or attempting to read on Goodreads
- Read at least 10 books from my TBR list
- Participate in 1 read-a-thon
- Listen to 12 new audiobooks
- Write reviews on all books read this year, and finish reviews from last year. (This is an apparent difficulty of mine, but here I go attempting to get better.)

“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.
I didn’t believe it until five minutes later when mouth-watering celebrity chef Tanner Reese walked up, tossed his arm around my shoulders, and told my cheating husband to take a hike.
Tanner and I couldn’t have been more different. He spent his weekends at clubs, rubbing elbows with fellow A-listers. I spent mine in yoga pants with cheese boards and a glass of wine—or six.
Our relationship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. That is until Tanner proved to me that even though love happens when you least expect it…
So does heartbreak.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
