Summary:

She intentionally abducted him because of his skills as a warrior, but when the chance arose, he stole her for revenge.

Aylia is on a quest to get pregnant, and in the time-honored tradition of her people, she must kidnap a suitable male for the task. Seducing the reluctant warrior is harder than she expected, especially when her body turns traitor and melts at his touch. When he flips the situation around and takes her prisoner, he doesn’t just steal her body, he also takes her heart…and she might just have to kill him to get it back.

Being the scourge of the galaxy comes with consequences, like women wanting his body, but Jaro’s never had someone kidnap him for his seed. Fighting the female’s allure, the captive becomes the captor, and he learns that not all battles are fought using fists and knives.

Through the vastness of space, brothels, and unmentionable places in between, can this stubborn pair overlook their pride and past to come together?

Warning: This is a science fiction erotic romance, heavy on the romance with a humorous overtone. It contains explicit adult situations that some readers may find offensive. Reader discretion is advised.

Review:

Interesting take on an intentional abduction. Initially reading the title, I thought the female would be the one who was abducted, but after the first chapter, we see that Aylia is our abductee. Aylia has set out on her journey to find a donor, one that is hopefully willing to impregnate her, so that she may return to her people. Aylia is looking for the best of the best, the strongest male so that she may create a strong female. When Aylia comes across Jaro, she then decides that he is the male she needs.

Jaro, a strong strapping male, finds himself captured by Aylia, a human that was rescued by the Zonian species. In the Zonian species, the women are the successors, they hunt down males and have intercourse to repopulate their world.

This story is actually amusing. The idea of a petite human taking down a strong alien to use his body for her own personal gains, score one for the women! I actually enjoyed reading this one, the push and pull between Aylia and Jaro was cool to look at. Aylia did not disappoint, she was strong-willed, tough, fierce, but vulnerable at the same time. The two of them did become repetitive at one point, both mentioning how they were going to kill one another and or punish each other.

All in all, I enjoyed the story, I may continue the series, we’ll see.

Review:

Alex and Gemma. I am not sure where I want to start this review. I guess I would first like to say that I am in love with these two. Gemma has had a rough life, and it’s great to see a woman not allow her past to ruin her future. Did Gemma have moments of self-doubt, yes, but don’t we all? Gemma was my beacon of hope in this story, I enjoyed seeing the transformation Alex took with his own issues, but Gemma was the star of this story. It is difficult for me not to love a strong-willed woman who doesn’t allow anything, even herself, to stand in the way of what she wants and needs in her life. For that, I have to applaud Gemma for being everything I see myself as, even though we have completely different backgrounds.

Now, on to Alex, our Alex. He is a heartthrob. Masculine, intelligent, hardworking and he loves cooking so much so that he owns his own restaurant? Yes, please! Although Alex is Gemma’s night in shining armor, I always love seeing a man in a vulnerable state where they put their emotions on the line and fight for what and who they love. I would have loved to see a little more of Alex’s history with his ex-wife. I also understand why we didn’t get as much information, it would have maybe left the story lopsided, with only the knowledge or flashbacks of Alex and Sam and little of Gemma and her ex-husband (he who shall not be named).

Some may say the story moved a little quickly, but as adults, we know when we’ve found someone we didn’t even know we were looking for. The pace was good, simple and not next day romance, but something that did build over time. This relationship moved like any other, and I felt as though I was experiencing every emotion with them.

I would love to see where these two end up later down the line. I have an issue with letting go of a storyline when I have fallen so deeply in love with the characters. Moni Boyce was able to capture the humanity in each character written and I am so happy I decided to pick this book out of the thousands in my Kindle library. Moni Boyce has gained a new follower and reader.

Review:

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was initially captivated by the title and book cover. I am giving this book three stars. There are grammatical errors that need to be checked, and some editing and revision to make the necessary corrections to bring this book at least a star higher. This storyline is a slow burner, but you must know **spoiler** that Hayley is attracted to two brothers, both of the attractions are sexual in an instance.

I found the storyline to be interesting, there is a different outlook on the history of Lucifer and God, and I enjoyed the take on things. What I did not like had anything to do with the way the book was written but, is an overall pet peeve of mine: the love triangle, or sexual tensioned triangle. I find the entire exchange eye-roll worthy, mainly because Hayley is in hell for heavens sakes, sex would be the last thing on my mind.

Hayley gets so caught up in the sexy feels that she has for Lucifer and Gabriel that she doesn’t continuously raise questions or concerns about her best friend, Adam. He disappears for most of the book, randomly popping up out of nowhere. I would have liked to see Adam in her life more since he was supposed to be her best friend. You would wonder and worry about your best friend, especially if one of the siblings is treating you like crap and beating you.

Lastly, Hayley says in the beginning how she wants to escape Jane and the criminal life she is living to be with her sister. Hayley wants to reunite with her at least in time for her sister’s wedding. While Hayley is in heaven, the thought of her sister hardly crosses her mind. This issue is one of the biggest issues I had with the story besides Hayley not picking a guy.

Overall not bad, but I am not sure if I will be reading the next book.

Review:

Cute storyline for a romance, a little fast paced but I am a sucker for instant romances when you know you know. When it comes to the BDSM portion of the storyline, I would have to say that this book was lacking in that section. There just wasn’t enough steam for me to appreciate the BDSM portions of the storyline.

Mia, poor naive Mia. Mia is written as a young woman in her early 20s that’s a virgin (because apparently, men enjoy taking a woman’s virginity) and it seems as though her being a virgin makes her unintelligent. What bothered me about Mia’s character is that she seemed so one dimensional. Her role didn’t pull me in or make me feel that I had to continue reading the book. As for her best friend, Tara, I understand what the author was trying to convey. Tara was supposed to be this outgoing, encouraging friend that wants to see her friend happy, but I felt that some of the actions Tara took only made her seem like she had an ulterior motive by sending Mia into the bosses office when she knew Mia wasn’t experienced with what she might come in contact with. That one incident left a bad taste in my mouth and just had me questioning a lot of the events taking place.

Richard was just as one dimensional as Mia. Although he’s had experience in the BDSM world, I still didn’t get the heat from their rendezvous, yes Mia is a virgin, but she was also willing to try and learn some things. I think I wanted a little more of a lesson plan to properly introduce Mia into the BDSM world.  Richard also has issues of his own, I felt that his problems were barely touched upon and nothing was ever resolved, he just seemed to move on.

I genuinely wish my heart would have loved this story as much as I wanted to, but this book was hard for me to get through.

Well gang, if you’ve read any of the Enthrall series by Vanessa Fewings let me know. Also, what are your thoughts on BDSM type books?

Summary:

Stuck on a military outpost in the middle of nowhere, Zoey had been praying for something to relieve her boredom.
She never dreamed that relief would come in the form of a seven-foot tall, sexy alien. One who claimed she belonged to him.
Delusional.
Except, there was something pulling her to him… a deep, hot attraction she couldn’t deny.
Dexanon Xa’a always thought his mate would be a sweet, obedient female. Instead, the Gods landed him with a maddening, outspoken, outrageous female who didn’t comprehend the honor that had been bestowed on her.
Dex might have a rockin’ body, but his ideas about women needed a total overhaul.
And she was just the woman to do it.

~Goodreads~

Review:

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars, it was a quick read and not much to dive into with the number of pages. Zoey is kidnapped from her outpost in space and is immediately deemed the alien prince, Dexanon Xa’a’s soulmate. Zoey being the strong level headed woman she is denied the connection she felt towards Dex and outright refused to be treated like a “princess” if that’s what you want to call it.

Dex and his peoples’ way of taking care of women is how we see in most hero driven books, they want their mate, soulmate, or chosen to stay behind closed doors being waited on hand and foot as if there is nothing a female can offer to aid the hero in any way. Of course, Zoey is totally against this, and that leads to she and Dex constantly arguing.

I wish a lot more of the issues were resolved in this first book, while Zoey companions kept things interesting, and I did applaud Zoey for standing up for what she wanted and being against the sexism actions taking place, I still found her character lacking.

If you have read any of the books in the series, let me know what you thought.

Physical books vs. E-Books

One of the most asked questions in the book community, physical books, or e-books?

Personally, I enjoy both, there is nothing like picking up a physical book and having that book smell when you turn the pages, falling further and further into a word of wonder. When the first Kindle came out, I was against reading on the little device, I felt that it was pointless to have a small tablet that looked like a book, without turning its pages. I thought that the books being electronic took away from the experience of reading, it turns out I just don’t like when people try to force me to change my ways.

Since the start of the electronic book era, I have been sucked into the automatic access to all the books I could ever dream of. Now, I read almost all of my books on my Kindle or using my Kindle app on my phone. It is so easy to open up the app than to load all of the books I’m currently reading into my bag, having to pull them out and be interrupted while reading.

Although I find myself reading e-books, any time I come across a book that I really enjoyed, I try to support that author as much as I can by purchasing the books audiobook if available and buying the physical books to put up on my shelves. Now, don’t think just because I enjoy reading my books on my Kindle that I don’t still walk bookstores touching every book possible. I always enjoy doing some window shopping, which usually results in me purchasing books that I want to read, and those books end up on my shelf continually begging to be read.

I will have to put together a book haul for you guys. Although most of my hauls are done on my phone via free downloads from Bookbub, Book Funnel, and many other newsletters and sources with affordable books, I feel like I owe you guys some tips and tricks into finding new authors and falling in love with all of the book deals.

Well gang, until next time be sure to Read THS!

Summary:

He definitely wasn’t supposed to get that email….

Subject: My Boss.

Have I already told you that I hate my boss today? Sexy as hell or not, this pompous, arrogant, ASSHOLE asked me to pick up his dry cleaning the second I walked through the door. Then he told me that I needed to take his Jaguar to a car wash that was ten miles outside of the city, but only after I needed to stand in a never-ending line to buy some type of limited, hundred-dollar watch. I honestly can’t wait to see the look on his face two months from now when I tell him that I’m quitting his company and that he can kiss my ass. KISS. MY. ASS. All those former fantasies about him kissing me with his “mouth of perfection” or bending me over my desk and filling me with his cock are long over. OVER.

Your bestie,
Mya

PS – Please tell me your day is going better than mine….

Subject: Re: My Boss.

No, you haven’t already told me that you hate your boss today, but seeing as though you’ve sent me this email directly, I know now….

Yes, I did ask you to pick up my dry cleaning the second you arrived to work to day. (Where is it?) And I did tell you to take my Jaguar to the car wash and pick up my thousand-dollar watch. (Thank you for taking five hours to do something that could be accomplished in two.) You don’t have to wait two months from now to see the look on my face when you tell me you’re quitting. I’m standing outside your office at this very moment. (Open the door. ) No comment on your “fantasies”, although I highly doubt they’re “long over”.

Your boss,
Michael

PS – Yes. My day is definitely going far better than yours….

A steamy office-romance novella from New York Times best-selling author Whitney G.

Review:

Mya is caught between a rock and a hard place. how many of us have either had a boss or worked with someone who was attractive and yet, their asshole-ish tendencies made you want to ring their necks? All of us, some of us, none of you, someones lying. Mya, just like the rest of the world’s population, shares a lot of her life with important people, like her best friend. Now although people are constantly sharing their lives on social media, it is nowhere near the same as when we share our information with our best friends. With bestie, we go all out, and this is what has brought Mya to her predicament. I know I have accidentally text someone a message being meant for someone else. You might have a light panic attack once you hit send and the information is out in the inter-web, whelp that is exactly what happens to Mya, and the turn out is the best results Mya could’ve ever asked for.

Michael, Mya’s boss receives this email from Mya specifically typed up and shared for her best friend. Michael, instead of immediately shutting down the message received from Mya Michael takes the opportunity to make a move that he had believed would never occur.

The storyline was okay, I felt like the buildup was a nice pace. I was also glad to see that the characters didn’t automatically get hot and heavy with each other, the slower build up always makes the first contact steamy. I did find the CEO to a bit of an asshole, he apparently is so wanted that he has a different woman every day, for me that sounds a bit exhausting but if it floats your boat…ride the tide.

*****A NY TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLER****

Down on her luck, nursing student and full-time waitress Kara Foster gets a massive blow to her already desperate financial situation that will surely find her living on the streets. Needing nothing less than a miracle to save her, Kara gets rescue from an unknown, unlikely, and overwhelming source. Billionaire Simon Hudson makes her an offer that is impossible to refuse, but terrifying to accept from a man that she’s never met. Will the handsome, alpha billionaire really be a solution to her problems, or will he end up being a major complication and a danger to her emotional sanity?

Reclusive billionaire Simon Hudson would rather be behind a computer creating computer games than rubbing elbows with the elite, and he knows exactly what he wants…until he meets Kara Foster. Something about Kara touches Simon in ways he’s never experienced and definitely doesn’t like. For over a year, Simon watches over Kara, but stubbornly refuses to admit his desire to possess her, not even to himself. But when she ends up in a situation that could very well be her destruction, Simon steps up to help her, not realizing that in saving Kara, he might very well be salvaging his own soul.

Review:

Kara and Simon were such a cute couple. Simon was a real sweetheart, although the beginning of the book gave me a disturbing stalkerish vibe. I obviously quickly got over that when Simon swept in to rescue Kara while she was ill. Simon offering Kara everything she is in desperate need for at the moment is the start of their relationship. The feelings that are written into the story are so swoon-worthy. Kara comes off as warm and inviting, while Simon is sweet; he does have his secrets. This story was a cute read, not super steamy, but worth every page turn.

So dangerous or not, the job is mine. And it was going fine, until an old as sin vampire stole my mark, and with it, my pay day.

Knowing I’m poor and desperate, he has offered me a job. I’ll have to work by his side to help solve a top secret case.

Everyone knows not to trust vampires. Especially a hot elder vampire. But without any other jobs coming up, I’m stuck. As I uncover a web of lies and treachery, revealing an enemy I didn’t know existed, the truth of my identity is threatened. I might make it out alive, only to end up in a gilded cage.

Review

Reagan, a badass heroine who is working hard to take down her next target, so that she can stay afloat. With her line of work, when someone has a job for you, as a fellow bounty hunter, you can’t afford to say no. During this task, Reagan is forced to work side by side with a vampire, Darius, and old, cocky, and extremely attractive vampire, one who can’t be trusted. Reagan’s wit and dry sense of humor kept me glued to the book, her personality is the way my mind functions and I loved every minute of it.

Darius on the other hand, I was irritated by at the beginning that is. I’ve noticed that almost all of the vampires when working with non-vampires tend to look down on everyone, and that’s exactly what Darius portrayed from the jump. As the two spend more and more time together, we begin to see some form a friendship evolving between the two, and thus my heart began rooting for the duo to follow their feelings.

I loved this book, and couldn’t wait to start the next book in the series. Stay tuned for the review, Raised in Fire by K.F. Breene coming soon. Until next time be sure to Read THS!

Summary

Over the centuries, anything Ronan once found pleasure in has faded away to be replaced with blood, death, and the ever-constant battle not to give in to the more savage side of his vampire nature. Every time he wakes, he questions if that day will be the one he succumbs to the beckoning darkness.

As a born hunter, Kadence has been sheltered from the world for her entire life, never allowed to step beyond the walls of her home. It’s not a life she’s happy with, but it’s one she’s come to accept. Everything changes the day her father is slaughtered by a vampire and she escapes the walls that have kept her caged.

After she’s attacked by the monster responsible for killing her father, Kadence is unsure how to react when she’s rescued by Ronan. Though raised to hate vampires, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Ronan as she slowly begins to realize that everything she’s been taught over the years may not be true. Now, she must decide what she wants more; Ronan, her family, or the elusive freedom she’s finally found.

Review

Kadence, a born into the vampire hunter family, she has been raised within her compound and never really ventures out into the world. As the daughter of those in charge int heir compound, Kadence is looked at as the princes of sorts. Kadence has schooling on how to be a proper lady and how to take care of her household while the men work and fight to protect the women and children. Now I am all for chivalry not being dead, but not everyone is meant to be the perfect housewife and ask little questions. Kadence was a forward thinker and was always searching for something to fill the void within her, and so she snuck out and thus the story really begins.

Ronan, a vampire, a sultry sex vampire I might add is out with his team of fellow vampires out on the hunt as well. Because Ronan lives forever he has watched many people that he has come to care for pass as he continues on with his life. But things suddenly begin to change when Kadence enters the club doors and catches his eyes.

Little do the vampire hunters, and vampires know, but they are both working towards the same goals, to take out as many rogue vampires as possible. When all hell breaks loose outside of the club, the vampires and the vampire hunters find themselves working alongside one another to fight off the some of the rogue vampires that have stumbled into their space. From that moment on Ronan and Kadence will find that their actions will have effects on their families, and the positions they will be forced into will have them questioning themselves.

I loved this book! I felt so many emotions from heartwarming flutters to irritation and frustration. I loved the story as it developed, the characters developing into those that I loved and hated as well as wanted to kill myself, I enjoyed everything and can’t wait to bring you guys the review for the next book in the series.
