Hello lovely readers, this week I am trying my best to complete my books from.last week as well as complete some newbies. The issue with selecting specific books to read for the week is that I’m such an emotional reader that there are times I just don’t want to finish a book I’ve already started.

Maybe we need to redefine the terms of this. But if I lose her over this, I don’t know what I’ll do.

Review:

Abby, an intelligent business woman that can’t seem to find satisfaction in any of past jobs. Abby appears to be a wanderer, not staying at any job for longer than 6 months, she finds that work becomes boring and no challenging enough. While Abby is on her quest to find a job that will test her skills, and hold her attention to longer than a 6 month period of time, Daniel the CEO of his late fathers company is in need of a new higher.

Daniel. While Daniel is made out to be this playboy billionaire who doesn’t care about females, it turns out (surprise, surprise) that he is actually very loving and caring. Daniel has set out to prove himself to Abby that he isn’t what the tabloids paint him to be.

The storyline itself was captivating, I did enjoy where the story was going and then of course, a cliffhanger. Not that the cliffhanger itself was that much of a shock, but where the cliffhanger took place was very blah. I found the story to be very repetitive, we know Abby has a history what that history is, we don’t find out in this first book of three. We also know that Abby has believed every word from the tabloids although she says she doesn’t, she immediately judges Daniel on what others have had to say. There were many eyeroll moments for me while Abby continued the battle of being an adult and handling the situation or letting others make her decisions for her.

I’ve realized that I want to see wh ed re this relationship takes Daniel and Abby, hopefully the two of them can become a power couple and run the business together.

Let me know how you feel about the thought of judging someone based on what the internet says. Do you judge other based on the tabloids, or are you more of a judge of character?

Well until next time, be sure to Read THS.

Review:

Celeste and Reagan, an odd couple to say the least. Reagan is our Fae and Celeste is our human, well sort of human but not really. Celeste is a dragon human hybrid shifter, a mouthful I know, although she isn’t aware of her abilities. Celeste has recently graduated college when she is bombarded by this handsome fae, that just so happens to kidnap her, yikes!

Reagan, one of the Scorched Elites, a sort of seal 6 team for the fae, is given a prophecy to locate a human dragon hybrid and bring her to the king. Sounds like a simple in and out task for the top-notched Scorched Elite, right…wrong! Reagan shows up to collect the human at hand when nature itself plays a cruel joke on the assassin and he is shown his fated mate.

This storyline is an instant love story, with all the fated mates’ talk, I only wish there were a little more passion. Everything kind of fell flat for me, but I honestly think its a personal issue. The story had no major structural problems and the grammar was fine.

One other let down for me was the ending, I was hoping for a different turnout, but what I got was a blah sort of let down feeling.

Let me know what you think about this one, I have decided to continue the series so I will let you all know how I feel about the next book.

Genre: Shifter Romance

Ratings:

2 gold stars

Summary:

This is the sequel to His Mate and His Mistress.

In this story, we get an insight on why Adelina is being blamed by her sisters Wilma and Wanda and and her ex best friend Clarissa.

Adelina also learns what it means to be a Luna, a fighter, and to take chances, to open up, as well as make difficult decisions.

This story is filled with redemption, forgiveness, love, and tears.

Its an emotional rollercoaster you don’t want to miss.

~Goodreads~

Review:

After completing the first book of this duology, I wanted to see how the story would end. Similar to His Mate and His Mistress, the grammar issues continued throughout. The grammar being nothing but irritating background noise is not the reason behind the two-star score.

Adelina and Demitrey’s relationship is brought to an end, and I was not thrilled. Although the author tries their best to explain the reasoning behind Demitrey treating his one and only mate the way he had, due to his upbringing, that did not excuse the physical and mental abuse Adelina had to endure. If anything, I was hoping that the outcome would have been a little different, maybe with Adelina saying no and choosing herself over him or perhaps giving the relationship much more time. Although I have no experience in this type of incident, I don’t understand how Adelina could forgive Demitrey for all that he did, granted she did have her own inner battles.

The storyline in this book itself kept me confused, and at times the actions were very eye-roll worthy. There were so many twists and turns, and at every corner, the twists came from there was always one person responsible for the other characters’ reactions, Adelina. After some time, it became very repetitive that every bad guy was after Adelina, looking to kill her because she was who she was, or they wanted to keep her for themselves.

Due to so many unanswered questions in book one, I had to continue the story. I admit that I did get the answers, but the ending left an okay taste in my mouth.

I did initially find this book on the Dreame reading app, and after research, I saw the book was initially on Wattpad. I will say that I am glad the author was able to bring their work to life and offer it up to the reading community, I just wish the author would take another look at the duology and make the necessary adjustments.

So, what do you think? Would you give this story a shot, or does the idea of Demitrey and Adelina’s relationship seem like too much? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time, be sure to Read THS!

Summary:

It was immediate for Roman. In three thousand years, he’d never lost control of his emotions, or his heart. But the moment he laid eyes on Evelynne Farrow, he knew she was the woman who haunted his dreams. And everything changed.

Everything.

Evie Farrow has always loved a good vampire romance. In fact, she makes a living writing them. While sitting in a coffee shop and working on her next mega-hot book, Evie is approached by a tall, dark, and handsome man who could have been pulled directly from one of her novels.

Unbeknownst to her, Roman D’Angelo is exactly what he appears to be – a vampire, and not just any vampire, but the king of vampires.

Unfortunately, while Roman is both ancient and invulnerable, Evie is flesh and blood. Just as Roman decides that he and Evie have a date with destiny, for reasons of their own, an ancient god and a homicidal vampire take an equally strong interest in her. To make things more complicated, there’s something very special about Evie. Something not quite human.

Can Roman fight off the incredible forces that would have Evie as their own long enough to win her heart, or will destiny betray him, and destroy everything he has ever dreamed of?

“Lalura had told him about her vision. Thirteen kings on a chess board – and thirteen queens….”

~Goodreads~

Review:

I wanted to love this book so much.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the book was horrible, I enjoyed the storyline. I only wish Evie and Roman’s relationship would’ve had more time to flourish. I still enjoyed the Vampire King claiming his Queen, and seeing that he had to go through some struggles to get her back. Oh, and the power that Evie has is refreshing; in many ways, she is more potent than Roman, who doesn’t love a strong woman?

Call me a sucker, but I love it when a vampire is written with the primal mate senses. Roman’s instinctual draw to Evie made the book worthwhile. There is a point in which Evie becomes Romans Queen, and I’m all for us ladies being Queens, but it was never explained how or why.

Last but not least, this first book was a lot of information. I understand the need for the preparation of the following books, but at one point, I forgot what book I was reading due to the information being thrown at me. This information dump may be needed for the rest of the series, but I had to reread some parts just to figure out what was going on and why.

Summary:

I’m a survivor. All of us who were abducted as children from earth are…or at least those of us who are still alive.

When my best friend’s ship crashes into a prehistoric jungle planet, I do what I do best: I survive. And I protect and train the only other survivor from the crash—young half-dragon, half-human child.

For five years, we’ve hunted gigantic beasts and scavenged man-eating plants. Then, an imperial ship crashes, and we’re no longer alone.

This dragon prince warrior is used to women falling at his feet. With a body like that, I can’t blame them, but I have more important things on my mind than getting it on with a huge, muscular, alpha alien. If he thinks there’s going to be anything between us other than a shaky truce until we escape this lethal planet, he’s got another thing coming.

I’ve never worn a collar. I refuse to be any royal dragon’s slave, and I’d rather die than be one of their “mates.” I’m fighting for my freedom, nothing else.

But when a slaver ship crashes, we’re no longer just fighting for our lives. It will take all my strength and guile to fend them off and protect the little girl I’ve come to love as if she were my own daughter.

The dragon prince has sworn to help, but his power comes with a price. He doesn’t want a truce.

He wants me.

~Goodreads~

Review:

Where to begin?

Kara was interesting, her being the human with a halfling as a “daughter” made her character more round. I enjoyed reading about Kara’s past and watching her grow to love Kalador.

Kalador has a very interesting background, I really would like to see where his family tree takes us. Seeing as we were able to watch Kalador’s sister slowly accept his decision, and learn to care for Kara and the halfling as well made his half of the story that much more enjoyable.

Storyline

This book was nothing short of interesting. Dragons, royalty, secret royalty, lust, love, hate all wrapped into one book. I enjoyed the simplicity of the story, it made it very easy to follow along with and a really good book to get you out of any reading slump. There were many parts where Kalador and Kara had sexy moments, but I don’t feel it took anything away from the book. We do learn about little details such as, dragon eggs, Kara’s bloodline and so forth that we don’t receive questions for and that was a little disappointing. The end of the book left me in a weird place, I think it could’ve been wrapped up a little better. Other parts that left me lacking, Kalador’s family being introduced to Kara, I really wanted to see the way that would play out, but alas we did not get that ending.

Overall the storyline was good, there were things missing but those things did not decrease my scoring. I don’t mind reading other stories from the Author, I’m interested in seeing what else she comes up with for this Drajon group.

Once the truth is revealed, will their relationship be able to survive? Or will the revelation shatter the love that’s grown between them?

~Goodreads~

Review:

Alex and Gemma. I am not sure where I want to start this review. I guess I would first like to say that I am in love with these two. Gemma has had a rough life, and it’s great to see a woman not allow her past to ruin her future. Did Gemma have moments of self-doubt, yes, but don’t we all? Gemma was my beacon of hope in this story, I enjoyed seeing the transformation Alex took with his own issues, but Gemma was the star of this story. It is difficult for me not to love a strong-willed woman who doesn’t allow anything, even herself, to stand in the way of what she wants and needs in her life. For that, I have to applaud Gemma for being everything I see myself as, even though we have completely different backgrounds.

Now, on to Alex, our Alex. He is a heartthrob. Masculine, intelligent, hardworking and he loves cooking so much so that he owns his own restaurant? Yes, please! Although Alex is Gemma’s night in shining armor, I always love seeing a man in a vulnerable state where they put their emotions on the line and fight for what and who they love. I would have loved to see a little more of Alex’s history with his ex-wife. I also understand why we didn’t get as much information, it would have maybe left the story lopsided, with only the knowledge or flashbacks of Alex and Sam and little of Gemma and her ex-husband (he who shall not be named).

Some may say the story moved a little quickly, but as adults, we know when we’ve found someone we didn’t even know we were looking for. The pace was good, simple and not next day romance, but something that did build over time. This relationship moved like any other, and I felt as though I was experiencing every emotion with them.

I would love to see where these two end up later down the line. I have an issue with letting go of a storyline when I have fallen so deeply in love with the characters. Moni Boyce was able to capture the humanity in each character written and I am so happy I decided to pick this book out of the thousands in my Kindle library. Moni Boyce has gained a new follower and reader.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Summary:

Stuck on a military outpost in the middle of nowhere, Zoey had been praying for something to relieve her boredom.
She never dreamed that relief would come in the form of a seven-foot tall, sexy alien. One who claimed she belonged to him.
Delusional.
Except, there was something pulling her to him… a deep, hot attraction she couldn’t deny.
Dexanon Xa’a always thought his mate would be a sweet, obedient female. Instead, the Gods landed him with a maddening, outspoken, outrageous female who didn’t comprehend the honor that had been bestowed on her.
Dex might have a rockin’ body, but his ideas about women needed a total overhaul.
And she was just the woman to do it.

~Goodreads~

Review:

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars, it was a quick read and not much to dive into with the number of pages. Zoey is kidnapped from her outpost in space and is immediately deemed the alien prince, Dexanon Xa’a’s soulmate. Zoey being the strong level headed woman she is denied the connection she felt towards Dex and outright refused to be treated like a “princess” if that’s what you want to call it.

Dex and his peoples’ way of taking care of women is how we see in most hero driven books, they want their mate, soulmate, or chosen to stay behind closed doors being waited on hand and foot as if there is nothing a female can offer to aid the hero in any way. Of course, Zoey is totally against this, and that leads to she and Dex constantly arguing.

I wish a lot more of the issues were resolved in this first book, while Zoey companions kept things interesting, and I did applaud Zoey for standing up for what she wanted and being against the sexism actions taking place, I still found her character lacking.

If you have read any of the books in the series, let me know what you thought.

Summary:

He definitely wasn’t supposed to get that email….

Subject: My Boss.

Have I already told you that I hate my boss today? Sexy as hell or not, this pompous, arrogant, ASSHOLE asked me to pick up his dry cleaning the second I walked through the door. Then he told me that I needed to take his Jaguar to a car wash that was ten miles outside of the city, but only after I needed to stand in a never-ending line to buy some type of limited, hundred-dollar watch. I honestly can’t wait to see the look on his face two months from now when I tell him that I’m quitting his company and that he can kiss my ass. KISS. MY. ASS. All those former fantasies about him kissing me with his “mouth of perfection” or bending me over my desk and filling me with his cock are long over. OVER.

Your bestie,
Mya

PS – Please tell me your day is going better than mine….

Subject: Re: My Boss.

No, you haven’t already told me that you hate your boss today, but seeing as though you’ve sent me this email directly, I know now….

Yes, I did ask you to pick up my dry cleaning the second you arrived to work to day. (Where is it?) And I did tell you to take my Jaguar to the car wash and pick up my thousand-dollar watch. (Thank you for taking five hours to do something that could be accomplished in two.) You don’t have to wait two months from now to see the look on my face when you tell me you’re quitting. I’m standing outside your office at this very moment. (Open the door. ) No comment on your “fantasies”, although I highly doubt they’re “long over”.

Your boss,
Michael

PS – Yes. My day is definitely going far better than yours….

A steamy office-romance novella from New York Times best-selling author Whitney G.

Review:

Mya is caught between a rock and a hard place. how many of us have either had a boss or worked with someone who was attractive and yet, their asshole-ish tendencies made you want to ring their necks? All of us, some of us, none of you, someones lying. Mya, just like the rest of the world’s population, shares a lot of her life with important people, like her best friend. Now although people are constantly sharing their lives on social media, it is nowhere near the same as when we share our information with our best friends. With bestie, we go all out, and this is what has brought Mya to her predicament. I know I have accidentally text someone a message being meant for someone else. You might have a light panic attack once you hit send and the information is out in the inter-web, whelp that is exactly what happens to Mya, and the turn out is the best results Mya could’ve ever asked for.

Michael, Mya’s boss receives this email from Mya specifically typed up and shared for her best friend. Michael, instead of immediately shutting down the message received from Mya Michael takes the opportunity to make a move that he had believed would never occur.

The storyline was okay, I felt like the buildup was a nice pace. I was also glad to see that the characters didn’t automatically get hot and heavy with each other, the slower build up always makes the first contact steamy. I did find the CEO to a bit of an asshole, he apparently is so wanted that he has a different woman every day, for me that sounds a bit exhausting but if it floats your boat…ride the tide.

*****A NY TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLER****

Down on her luck, nursing student and full-time waitress Kara Foster gets a massive blow to her already desperate financial situation that will surely find her living on the streets. Needing nothing less than a miracle to save her, Kara gets rescue from an unknown, unlikely, and overwhelming source. Billionaire Simon Hudson makes her an offer that is impossible to refuse, but terrifying to accept from a man that she’s never met. Will the handsome, alpha billionaire really be a solution to her problems, or will he end up being a major complication and a danger to her emotional sanity?

Reclusive billionaire Simon Hudson would rather be behind a computer creating computer games than rubbing elbows with the elite, and he knows exactly what he wants…until he meets Kara Foster. Something about Kara touches Simon in ways he’s never experienced and definitely doesn’t like. For over a year, Simon watches over Kara, but stubbornly refuses to admit his desire to possess her, not even to himself. But when she ends up in a situation that could very well be her destruction, Simon steps up to help her, not realizing that in saving Kara, he might very well be salvaging his own soul.

Review:

Kara and Simon were such a cute couple. Simon was a real sweetheart, although the beginning of the book gave me a disturbing stalkerish vibe. I obviously quickly got over that when Simon swept in to rescue Kara while she was ill. Simon offering Kara everything she is in desperate need for at the moment is the start of their relationship. The feelings that are written into the story are so swoon-worthy. Kara comes off as warm and inviting, while Simon is sweet; he does have his secrets. This story was a cute read, not super steamy, but worth every page turn.

He’s desperate. She’s a fraud. Together…they’re a disaster.

To save his siren clan from the ravaging sea serpents, Gabriel must seek the help of a mage to recover the Legacy Stone and heal the oceans. That’s how he finds himself at Kerina’s doorstep, begging for her aid, and grateful when she reluctantly agrees.

Now Gabriel and Kerina must survive the perils of the cursed seas and challenge the demonic Tua and his seven monstrous children for control of the Legacy Stone—a difficult enough task for a lone siren warrior and a powerful mage…

Except, Kerina’s not really a mage. The real mage died weeks before and hadn’t even been cold in her grave when Gabriel arrived desperate for her help. Kerina hadn’t exactly been eager to correct his mistake then, and now her lie of omission could leave the world in danger of complete extinction.

Kerina’s not sure how long she can keep up the ruse, and she’s running out of time to confess.

Fans of Kiera Cass, Neil Gaiman, and Faith Hunter will find this dystopian-fantasy siren adventure intensely addicting.
